About Eden & our director

An English-speaking dentist in Nagoya
with U.S. specialist training.

  • DDS in Japan + MSD in Prosthodontics at Indiana University, USA
  • Specialty focus: digital dentistry · implants · complex full-mouth cases · aesthetic restorations
  • Every consultation, treatment plan, and written record provided in English
  • Quiet, private clinic with in-house digital lab and 3D printers
  • Philosophy: explain before we treat · choose the least invasive option · give each patient the time they deserve

Eden Dental Office is a quiet, refined dental clinic in Nagoya where all consultations are available in English. Our director, Dr. Ryosuke Murai, earned his DDS in Japan and went on to complete his MSD (Master of Science in Dentistry) in Prosthodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry in the United States.

At Indiana University, Dr. Murai focused on digital dentistry, implant surgery and restoration, complex full-mouth rehabilitation, and aesthetic treatments including veneers and ceramic restorations. This combination of advanced digital workflows and hands-on specialist training allows him to plan, design, and deliver high-quality results — often in fewer visits than traditional approaches.

Our philosophy is simple: explain before we treat, choose the least invasive option first, and give each patient the time they deserve. For emergency visits, that means relieving your immediate problem in a calm, private setting — and only recommending further treatment if it is truly needed.

FAQ

Questions from international patients
at our Nagoya dental clinic.

Do you really speak English at this Nagoya dental clinic?

Yes. Our director trained in the United States, and all consultations, treatment plans, and written records are provided in English. Many of our patients are expats, international school families, and long-term residents who want the standard of dental communication they had at home.

Do you accept Japanese health insurance?

Yes. We accept Japanese public health insurance for covered basic care such as check-ups, cavity fillings, and insurance-scale cleanings. Premium materials, Invisalign, implants, and cosmetic treatment are self-pay. We explain clearly before treatment which items are covered and which are self-pay, with written cost estimates in English.

Do you see children and families?

Yes. We see family members of all ages, including children from international schools. Where possible, we schedule family members together so one visit covers everyone.

Do you offer payment plans for large treatments?

Yes. We offer interest-free monthly payment plans for Invisalign, implant treatment, and cosmetic cases — so you can spread the cost over the treatment period without interest charges.

Can you provide receipts for medical expense deduction or corporate insurance?

Yes. We provide itemized English and Japanese receipts suitable for Japan's medical expense deduction (医療費控除), corporate health plans, and overseas insurance claims.

Can you coordinate with my dentist back home?

Yes. We can share English-language records, X-rays, and summary letters with your dentist overseas, and we are happy to coordinate ongoing care when you travel or relocate.

How long is a first visit?

Your first visit is typically 60 to 90 minutes — unhurried — including a comprehensive exam, digital X-rays, cleaning when appropriate, and a full treatment plan discussed with you in English.

Where are you exactly?

We are on the 4th floor of the Kajiura Building at 1-4-8 Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya — about 2 minutes on foot from Fushimi Station, just one stop from Nagoya Station.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please bring your health insurance card (if enrolled in Japanese insurance), a photo ID (passport or residence card), a list of any medications you take, and any previous dental X-rays or records if you have them. Writing down your questions and goals beforehand is also helpful.
